TIMOTHY “POLO” GREENE

Entrepreneur Dapper barber and businessperson “Polo” Greene has a passion for haircutting and people. He has groomed men in the Harlem community for over 26 years. A “Master” barber with a penchant for the community, he has established himself as a community leader and serves as a mentor to many. He recently relocated Harlem Masters barbershop its new, expanded location at 633 Lenox Avenue (142nd St.) Known as the home of the “Harlem Hot Towel Shave”, this award winning barbershop has flourished by delivering optimum service and professional care to the community at large. Whether he is creating a cut from a photo or magazine Polo says, “He takes personal pride in understanding the needs of his customers and focuses on cutting their hair to “fit” both their personality and facial features.”

Mr. Greene has been involved with two major, health-related outreach initiatives for Black men. Over a four-year period, hundreds of Black men have been tested, for the early detection of hypertension and diabetes through Mr. Greene’s barbershop Harlem Masters, in partnership with Mr. B’s Project. Mr. Greene has a way of talking and connecting with his customers and easily convinces them of the importance of testing. Always one to take his health concerns seriously and having lost too many good friends

As part of his community endeavors the Harlem Master Barber Shop Classic Summer Basketball Tournament and donates hundreds of school supplies to area youth. The shop was also voted runner-up of the Hot 97 radio station “Best Barbershop On The Block” competition, winner of The USA Network-“KOJAK Bald-Head Competition”, featured in the Richard Karz, documentary 9/11/03 and the Al Sharpton Barbershop Series. Harlem Masters continues to generate media exposure that increases business and positively supports the Harlem community.

Harlem Masters attracts a wide range of customers include local residents, celebrities, politicians, lawyers and professionals along with the everyday working man. His celebrity client roster includes award winning actors and professional sports players’. The children even have a special corner called Barbershop Books literacy and learning center provided by Alvin Early where they can read and relax while waiting. At Harlem Masters, you will always find great cuts and shaves, in additional to interesting, thought provoking conversations about sports, politics, current events, life and most importantly HEALTH.

Mr. Greene serves as the Vice-President Women In The Black a 501 (3) non- profit organization based in Harlem dedicated to helping women start, build lead and grow their businesses. He is an active member of the Deacon board at the Baptist House of Prayer and a Chaplin. When this father of four children is not working he can be found relaxing or playing basketball, watching a basketball, or talking about sports.
