TERRY SPRY
2016 honoree
Terry is an entrepreneur by nature. She started her career at an early age, gaining respect and recognition for her unique hairstyles. She was most famous for her fishtail braids which was a very trendy hairstyle in the Harlem community. The late Whitney Houston, Starr Jones, Patti Labelle, Kim Porter, and the group SWV were just a few names among her celebrity clientele. In 2005, she went independent and opened her on salon on West 144th Street and named it Salon 144; the block where she grew up. Her entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. She was also famous for throwing and promoting social parties which were successful and the talk of the town. As Abraham Lincoln once stated “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
